Couture and high end fashion designer Marc Jacobs has launched his 2017 Fall/Winter Collection celebrating pre-90s hiphop culture in Brooklyn, through a pictorial interpretation.

The collection of images was shot by Tyler Mitchell.

Marc Jacobs caused controversy in September of 2016 for using black culture in his work, without featuring any black models. Accused of cultural appropriation at that time, he appears to have learned some of those lessons by ensuring a hip-hop themed collection appropriately features several black models.

Still, not everyone is comfortable with this collection. All the same, the work is well executed and artistically apropo. After all, still “hiphop rules the world”. Right?!
