What do you do when the rug is pulled from under your feet? Get into the fetal position and weep? Play the blame game? Or disappear without a trace?
The folks at AMF Concerts and SIVA Group, who brought Verbal Jint and Bumkey to New York City, found themselves in the unenviable position of canceling a concert two days to the event. Tickets had been sold, airline tickets booked, and outfits had been planned out.
Well, “when the going get’s tough… the tough get going.” Within 24 hours the AMF crew had rebranded the concert as a talent show, and invited hometown hero Flowsik of Aziatix to fill in for the previous headliners.
So, when the rug’s pulled from under you, it helps to be quick thinking and resourceful. But, it also helps to have a safety net called … “community.”
The community of fans flowed to the event, and Flowsik a product of the “community” showed up.
The original concert has been postponed to September 5, 2014, were the Illioniare Boys Club (IBC… for short, and you heard that here first!) of Dok2, Beenzino and The Quiett will perform. And, with the amazing success of their candidate from “Show Me the Money”, Bobby, you can bet that the Illionaire that was scheduled to appear a month ago isn’t the Illionaire appearing on the 5th of September. This one is much bigger.
Also, like a ticket that keeps on giving, the original concert ticket holders gained free access to the rebranded show, to the Kollaboration NY 2014 after party, and of course the tix will still be valid for the rescheduled concert.
