Los Angeles – April 13, 2017 – KCON USA, the world’s largest Korean culture convention and music festival, announced today that GFRIEND will join the performance lineup for the New York leg of KCON 2017 USA. The six member girl group joins CNBLUE and Twice.

KCON 2017 NY will take place on June 23 and 24 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

GFRIEND is a girl group signed with Source Music, debuting with the “Season of Glass” EP in South Korea in January 2015. The group consists of six members: Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB, and Umji. In the same year, GFriend won several female rookie awards, and made headlines as the only girl group to be nominated in the 2015 MTV Europe Music Awards’ “Best Korean Act” category, with their “Flower Bud” EP.

After releasing their third EP “Snowflake” in 2016, GFriend won first place on M! Countdown, Music Bank, Show Champion, and Inkigayo (The Music Trend) with title song “Rough”. The music videos of “Rough” and “Navillera” were ranked 2nd and 10th in the top 10 K-pop MV’s most beloved by South Koreans in 2016 on YouTube. In 2017, GFriend released their fourth EP “The Awakening”, title song “Fingertip”.

After quickly selling out last year, KCON USA is returning to the New York metro area for its third year, continuing its reign as the leader in spreading Hallyu (Korean pop culture) with star-studded concerts, specialized programming, and expanded K-beauty, K-food, and e-sports offerings.

The Los Angeles edition of KCON 2017 USA will be returning to the Los Angeles Convention Center, from August 18 to 20. More artists for both events will be announced in the coming weeks and months.
