Girls’ Generation’s leader Taeyeon has released a breath of fresh air to the international music charts. Taeyeon’s new song “Why” was composed by LDN Noise. The song is bright and warm, has a summer feeling, and the lyrics are all about being free, putting all the stress behind you, and doing whatever you love to do.

Taeyeon’s latest music video for “Why” takes place in the deserts of California. In the video, Taeyeon does the things she likes, like jumping in the pool, writing on the wall, learning how to skateboard, throwing ketchup and mayonnaise at an old man, playing with bubbles, eating ice cream while riding the swing, and playing with colorful smoke bombs.

Taeyeon’s new song “Why” has already made it to No. 1 on the iTunes Album Chart in thirteen countries since the day it was released, on June 28. “Why” continues to reign as one of the songs with a top 10 spot, with Taeyeon sharing the ranks with U.S.-based artists Drake, Adele, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beyonce, and several others. “Why” is currently ranked in 6th place.

Taeyeon will also hold her first comeback stage this Friday on KBS music show “Music Bank”, this July 1.
