Truth is Stormzy and Michael Dapaah’s (aka Big Shaq) global success, has come with something of a transformation of the grime style and sound. Although, that’s not necessarily a bad thing, the result has been other grime MCs feeling the pressure for a more mainstream or American infused sound. Well, Lethal Bizzle with help from Chip just went to the front of the grime classroom to give a lesson on what the OG grime sounds like in new single “London”. School is now in session.

I’m not sure why this banging track is not called London Boy, because that seems to be the refrain Lethal Bizzle wants to leave the listener with. Confirming his status as not “selling out,” he takes us round the ends from where the sounds and styles of grime was honed and perfected. And, for effect he adds in shots of the ubiquitous close circuit TV cameras watching mandem.

Lethal Bizzle who’s been on the grime scene since 2002 with the release of his first single ‘Oi’ as part of the More Fire Crew, is from East London. Chip for his part is from Tottenham in North London.
