Jay Park‘s WorldWide album came out a few weeks ago and since then he’s released a couple of videos. The newest one is a double video for “WorldWide” and “Want It“.

I can’t say I’m a fan of either song featured here. Where the previous release, “You Know,” was cool and sexy, this was way too hood for me. And maybe too hood for Jay too. Cha Cha makes sick beat–that’s been established–but a sick beat can only carry mediocre rapping so far. There’s this notion that rappers have to be ‘hard’ and flashy to be respected, to show that they are successful, but that isn’t necessarily the case. If you have a good flow, ‘da skillz’ if you will, then you don’t need all that extra stuff. Jay Park isn’t one that lacks confidence, but baseless confidence is just as bad as no confidence. In all honesty, Jay Park can and has done better. Within this same album he’s done better. I’m all for switching up your style and trying something new. This time just happened to end in a not so positive way. That being said, WorldWide is still a banger, and with 18 tracks on it, there’s a little something for everyone.

I've been into K-pop since early 2010. Went from being a Big Bang/YG stan, to being a lover of boy groups in general. My friends know who Rain is because of me and my mom sings EXO's "What Is Love" in the car even though she tries not to let me hear. Other than K-pop, I love Fall Out Boy and hope to one day see them live. I have pretty much a mix of everything from 90s hip hop to Disney soundtracks to Luther Vandross and Alicia Keys on my iPod. I love to write, even though I've taken a break from fanfics to focus on GMM. Mostly, I like my music and books and that's just me.
