Los Angeles – July 27, 2017 – KCON USA presented by Toyota, the world’s largest Korean culture convention and music festival, has announced first generation idol Kim Tae Woo from g.o.d, talk show host and comedian Sam Okyere, and Korean-American singer, actor, and television host Kevin Woo will make special guest appearances at this summer’s KCON 2017 LA.

The world’s largest celebration of Korean pop culture will span three days at the Los Angeles Convention Center and Staples Center from August 18 to 20. Tickets are on sale now and can be found at kconusa.com.

K-pop Legend Kim Tae Woo of g.o.d. to Perform at Largest Korean Pop Convention in Los Angeles from August 18 to 20

Among other activities, Kevin Woo will serve as the host of the convention’s artist engagement sessions. Sam Okyere will be participating in a panel and have a fan meet and greet. Kim Tae Woo will be making a special appearance at the convention, and is also scheduled to perform.

Kim Tae Woo is a South Korean singer. He debuted as the lead singer for g.o.d in 1999. g.o.d became one of the most popular groups in the 2000’s, and are often referred to as “The Nation’s Idols” and “Legends of K-Pop”, along with other first generation idol groups. g.o.d were also one of the few groups to have an album become a million seller in K-pop.

In October 2006, Kim Tae Woo released his first solo album “Solo Special”, and sold over 100,000 copies in just one month. In September 2009, he released his mini album “T-Virus”, and again achieved over 100,000 sales. In the same year, Kim Tae Woo won the Best Ballad/R&B Performance award with title song “Love Rain” from his “T-Virus” EP, at the 11th Mnet Asian Music Awards.

In July 2014, Kim Tae Woo regrouped with the other members of g.o.d, and together they made their long-awaited comeback with their album “Chapter 8”. He has been actively promoting his sixth studio album “T-WITH” since its release in July 2017.

Sam Okyere is a Ghanaian TV personality who rose to fame with the variety show Abnormal Summit as the Ghana representative, after initially moving to Korea as a student. International Hallyu fans may also know him from many other television programs, including Law of the Jungle and Real Men. Sam is also active in the local community as the ambassador of Yongsan.

Kevin Woo is a Korean-American singer, actor, and television host currently based in South Korea. He debuted as a member of K-pop boy band U-KISS in 2008, and was the main vocalist in the group. U-KISS’ breakthrough hit was “Man Man Ha Ni”, released back in 2009.

U-KISS are known for their international popularity and have held various tours worldwide, including Asia, Europe, North America, and Latin America. U-KISS made their official Japanese debut in 2011, and have held numerous sold-out concert tours in Japan and topped the Oricon chart with multiple hits.

Kevin is currently a host of popular music talk show After School Club on Arirang TV. After School Club is a live interactive talk show, featuring South Korean musicians as guests, and is directed at an international audience. The show allows K-pop fans to interact directly with their favorite stars live through social media. Kevin was raised in Danville, California, where he lived with his parents and elder sister. He is currently preparing for his solo career.

Since its launch in 2012, KCON has grown exponentially to become the undisputed epicenter for all things Hallyu, aka the Korean Wave. The expansive event, spanning three days, will take place within the Staples Center, the Los Angeles Convention Center, and the surrounding entertainment district from August 18 to 20.

In addition to star-studded concerts, with this year including 12 of the top acts from South Korea, fans in attendance will experience more panels and workshops than ever before.
