Nike Air Max 97s are turning 20 this year and to commemorate the moment, the retro shoes are dropping in a “Metallic Gold” colorway. A month ago we saw the return of the Nike Air Max 97 Silver Bullet. Now, we’re seeing her close cousin in dazzling gold come May 18th.

The upper is in that rich metallic gold leather, hence the name. Additionally, the sides carry reflective 3M panel overlays that pop in the dark. You can see those in action below. It’s accented with some black, white, and red on the top of the tongue and small swoosh on the side. The toe cap and outer sole carry that same accent with an all white midsole. A big, visible air unit is tucked between those two elements to really give those retro vibes.

These are perfect for those who wanna wear a bit of nostalgia on their feet. Despite their origin in the 90s, Nike Air Max 97s definitely have a weird futuristic, yet retro thing going on with them. Honestly, perfectly describing these isn’t exactly easy, but they’re definitely unique. Heads will turn and sneakerheads will totally notice the iconic silhouette on your feet. The jury is still out on this colorway though – people seem to be split on whether or not these are dope or dumb. Let us know what you think!

Here you can see the previously released Nike Air Max 97 Silver Bullet. These were out about a month ago and seem to be sold out on the site. It’s possible you might be able to cop some with some research, so don’t give up.
