YG’s new girl group, Black Pink finally debuted with two title tracks, “BOOMBAYAH” and “Whistle” on August 8, KST.

Black Pink is YG Entertainment’s first girl group since 2NE1. Both fans and the members in the group waited a long time for Black Pink’s debut, and their music placed at the top of various music charts in South Korea only a few hours after they released their very first album, “Square One.”

This group consists of four members:  Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé and Lisa. According to YG Entertainment, all members have spent 4 to 6 years training at the agency to refine and perfect their talent. As a result, YG is confident that they are sending out the cream of the crop into the K-Pop scene.

“BOOMBAYAH” is a fast-paced EDM song that shows off Black Pink’s powerful energy. Their hook in the song is when all members yell “Oppa.” The MV for “BOOMBAYAH” features all four members partying it up. The song is all about forgetting everything and just wanting to dance with someone. It showcases the group’s true colors, filled with black and pink.

It has a unique melody line that incorporates whistle sounds, and the rhyme “whistle like a missile” is very catchy. The song delivers a message about there is “only one love among all of the other boys coming after me.”

Both of Black Pink’s title tracks have a strong hip-pop sound, and the team has a good mix of talent in rap, vocals, and dance.
