I definitely know that awkard feeling of sitting in a laundromat, bus, or library alone with that pretty someone and wandering if I should make a move. If only I had Nick and Sammy’s new MV “On or Off” to help me, then. But, at least now I know all I’ll have to do is dance my way into her heart. At least try to, because even then there are still no guarantees. Dang, what a tease!
That’s certainly the feeling in the choreography, as well as in the musical arrangement. Both are what you’d call undulating and convoluted. Undulating, as in moving up and down with excitement and confusion, and wandering if it’s possible. Convoluted, as in intricate and elaborate, wandering if you’re saying the right thing or moving your hands too much.
The choreography and especially the musical arrangement capture those emotions, quite perfectly. Nick and Sammy certainly really put in a lot of ingredients into the musical arrangement. It’s so varied and irregular. But, works perfectly insync with the concept.
By the end of the MV, I am sucked in and curious of how this will all end. And, yup, that’s how it usually ends. Much ado about nothing! Once, she told me she was bored. Tee hee.
Still, a wise person (Wayne Gretsky) once said, “you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” So, take the shot, anyways. At least you’ll get a nice song and MV out of it.
And, I think I’ll go watch it, again.
