It’s been a busy summer for hip hop/go-go music/rock band RDGLDGRN. They’ve released three singles including Green’s own “Nothing”, released comic books, and of course they’ve been doing live shows. “No rest for the weary!”
“Turn” a single released in late July, has RDGLDGRN showcasing their mellow side, emanating from their affinity for The Beatles. Their inspiration then re-crosses the Atlantic, adding a little flavor from a blues electric guitar.
The DC-based trio, are one of the most seamless examples of how music can transcend the traditional constraints of the term ‘genre’. Their latest track “TURN,” leans more towards their indie rock side, with atmospheric reverb-soaked guitars and smooth vocals perfect for a mid-summer night’s party. The song is complimented perfectly by Green’s 16 bars midway through the track, reminding us how naturally the band can incorporate their various influences into one three-and-a-half minute song. Check the song out now on the band’s Soundcloud
“TURN” is the second single released from the band’s upcoming EP, which they are self-releasing this fall. The first track from the EP, “Robots”, premiered earlier this summer on HillyDilly.com and featured the incomparable Dave Grohl on drums. While the band hasn’t abandoned their signature ‘indie go-go’ sound, their creative maturity since their last record is clearly evident on each song from the release.
RDGLDGRN have made a habit out of collaborating with legends. Well known for teaming with Dave Grohl and Pharrell Williams on their last record, the band is currently in the midst of releasing an EP largely void of any collaborations, thus showing once again the talent and thoughtful songwriting that drew the likes of such revered musicians to collaborate with RDGLDGRN in the first place. Stay tuned for more from the band as they continue to tour throughout the summer and reveal new music from their latest EP!
RDGLDGRN will be performing next in Wilmington, NC at the “California Roots: The Carolina Sessions” on 9/13/2014.
