As the weather is finally turning the corner here on the East Coast, Florida psych-folk outfit, Someday River, have provided us with the perfect soundtrack to Spring in the form of their new Sleeping Sideways EP. Sleeping Sideways premiered today with All Things Go, who said the band “…never limit themselves to the confines of folk, incorporating funky basslines, fuzzy rock guitars and drifting harmonies throughout”.
All five tracks on this EP are sun-drenched and ambitious, perfectly suited for a day on the beach or hanging out in the park surrounded by lush greenery and good company. You can purchase the EP now and it is also available for stream on Soundcloud and Spotify.
Greyson Charnock, the band’s primary songwriter and frontman, says that Sleeping Sideways is about “finding good in the face of an insane world” and notes “accepting mistakes and carrying on” as another key theme on the release.
The band’s explosive live show has made them a staple of the Orlando music scene for a while now, and with recent features on All Things Go, The Wild Honey Pie and Nerdist.com among others, Someday River is poised to make the move to a more national audience with the release of the Sleeping Sideways EP.
Someday River is an experimental folk rock project and art platform envisioned by Greyson Charnock in Spring of 2015. Incorporating sweeping drum patterns and funk bass over songs rooted in folk, the band crystallizes into their full sound.
From the Salty Coasts to the Swampy Center of Florida, Someday River draws their inspiration; weaving compositions, and painting sound-scenes with a likeness to the ebb and flow of the inevitable tides. Using texture and dynamic, the band brings you along with them on an experiential journey through their live performance.
