With an impending military service enlistment planned for the end of 2016, Super Junior’s vocalist and youngest member Kyuhyun has not stopped releasing music since 2014. First it was his solo debut EP “At Gwanghwamun” released in November, 2014. Then it was his sophomore EP called “Fall, Once Again” released in October of 2015. And, now he’s released his 3rd solo EP called “Waiting Still” with lead singles “Blah Blah” and “Still“.

Crowned as the prince of ballads, Kyuhyun in the first single “Blah, Blah,” goes for a haircut in a barbershop, reminiscing and daydreaming, while a string quintet accompany him in his thoughts, creating a mournful melody to disconsolate lyrics like:

Now I’m talking to myself
Saying how much I really loved you
Sorry for starting first
But the moment I first saw you
Your smile made my heart stopped
You made me freeze

The street I used to walk on with you
Do you know how dream-like that was to me?

The music video ends with a car accident, which must have brought back painful memories of a similar ghastly incident, but with different outcomes. It was the morning of April 19, 2007, with band members Leeteuk, Shindong, Eunhyuk and two managers, Kyuhyun was in a career-ending accident that left him with a “fractured hip, pneumothorax from broken ribs, and facial scratches and bruises.”

However, upon the intervention of his father and through sheer will-power Kyuhyun returned to the stage to sing again.

Could a ballad go any slower and sadder? The music video of the second single “Still“, released at the same time as the first single on November 10 at midnight in Korea, is as soft and delicate as Kyuhyun himself. The lyrics, are also in step with the melancholic theme, but they are a little upbeat.

I should be hurting
But the human heart is so mysterious
Every time I think of you
It hurts but I’m happy

There is a common scene in both music videos, where Kyuhyun in a red sweater is sitting outside with the girl and the snow starts to fall. Like “Blah, Blah,” “Still,” is also about love and loss.

“Waiting Still” has seven tracks including, “Last Good-bye,” “Fall in You,” “Love in Time,” “When with Me”, and “And We.” The album was released under the new label called “Label SJ” created by SM Entertainment to manage the activities of Super Junior.
