Tao, the tall, lanky and bronze-looking former Exo member, has had his brand new music video blocked on YouTube over copyright claims by SM Entertainment.
Tao, whose name is Huang Zitao recently debuted as a solo artist in China, under his own management label.
As Tao and SM Entertainment are still undergoing contract negotiation, it seems SM has not hesitated to drop it’s heavy boot on his new video, which was pulled from YouTube in less than a day.
According to KpopHerald, “Tao previously revealed his true feelings toward EXO and SM Entertainment through the lyrics of his debut track, “T.A.O.,” released on Thursday, July 23.”
SM Entertainment, has not hesitated to throw its weight around when it comes to making life incredibly difficult for artists that leave its fold through lawsuits. JYJ being the number one example. However, as the agency is not as influential in China, former SM artists who are Chinese like Han Geng and Kris have had little to fear from SM. It seems that may be changing a bit.
Stay tuned… because until SM throws off the shackles of Tao’s contract with them, it’s clear that they will continue to consider him still under the umbrella of SM – and that’s no pleasant place to be. Again, Junsu, Yoochun and Jaejong can tell him that first hand.
