When urban lingo includes your brand, as in “that’s Gucci!” Or, when rappers and streetwear style flock to wear your sneakers and repurpose your clothing, any smart brand ought to take notice. And, Gucci has recently done so, without reservation. In their latest collection shown in Milan, for spring of 2018, Gucci continues to embrace the urban and streetwear styles seeking inspiration from the inspired.
The collection includes use of sports blazers and hoodies, which may be hard to notice over the intricate designs and souped up style. One of the looks even featured a veritable member of the tracksuit mafia.
Top underscore this, it wasn’t but 2 weeks ago, when Gucci announced a rare collaboration with Harlem’s own Dapper Dan, a man of impeccable style and tailoring who created special outfits for the big hiphop and culture guns of the 90s. It all came about after the brand inappropriately used one of his styles in there last collection. But, all is well that ends well.
